Oliver,

Actually, I don't know that this is the case, although I thought I had
read somewhere that this is the purpose of etf, i.e., to produce files
that can be read by any version of Finale. At least, etf is an open,
documented format, so one has some hope of dealing with troublesome
elements somehow.

Looking at the man page for etf2ly, I see that it converts a subset of
the etf format to Lilypond, meaning that it may ignore some elements
it doesn't understand. Thus, one has to do fix-up after conversion,
but that's to be expected anyway.
