I'd love to know who this kid's teacher was who told him to look for a
bright sound! I can't remember ANYBODY in my entire 50 year acquaintance
with clarinets and clarinetists who has been interested in a bright sound -
"bright" was nearly always used pejoratively and never as a goal. Maybe just
a Philadelphia thing.
