Palisades Virtuosi Presents Season Opening When They Were Young Concert
on September 26 in Ridgewood, New Jersey

Ridgewood, NJ - The critically-acclaimed Palisades Virtuosi presents
When They Were Young - the opening concert of their 2009-2010 season on
Saturday, September 26 - 8 PM at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113
Cottage Place in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The evening will begin with a
pre-concert talk with the performers and commissioned composer at 7:15.

This program will feature the World Premiere of a new work by Ryan
Francis (b. 1981), commissioned by the Palisades Virtuosi. His
compositions have been met with audience and critical acclaim throughout
the United States and Europe. His music has been variously described as
“sweeping” and “exceptional” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), “compelling”
(Los Angeles Times) as well as “shimmering”, “focused” and “rhythmically
sharp-edged” (New York Times). Visit the composer at
http://www.myspace.com/ryananthonyfrancis.

Other works on the program will be pieces written by composers in their
youth. Audience members will guess which composers have written each
piece, with prizes awarded for the top three winners.

In addition, the annual Palisades Virtuosi Young Artist Recognition
Award will be presented to a talented student from Hackensack High School.

Tickets for the September 26 concert are $20 and $15 for students and
seniors. For reservations or other information, please call
201-488-4983, or email reservation requests to the Palisades Virtuosi at

Funding for this concert is made possible in part by the Alice M. Ditson
Fund of Columbia University and the NJ State Council on the
Arts/Department of State, through grant funds administered by the Bergen
County Dept. of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
