Sorry Dan, this was my bad joke about what Berlioz wrote in his Treatise
compared to the conversations we've had in the past on the list about
the differences between alto clarinets and basset horns. (And also the
difference perceived by Maestro Leinsdorf...)

By the way, some of the remarks about clarinet in D are I think Strauss'
additions (indicated by a wavy line down the side of the paragraph): 'I
have used it for roguish and droll humour in my "Till Eugenspiegel"'.
