There _is_ such a database, broken into many different formats.

It lists composers as Male or Female; unfortunately not directly reachable
by that category (it has name, title, instrumentation, and number or
performers required categories).

Since I'm the list owner (not moderator - we don't have one of those), I'd
be the one to send comments and updates to the database.
