I think the ones required for the Mendelssohn are one step away from =
soprano Eb clarinet, and are not in the pitch of the basset horn. I =
think this was what Gary meant.

I'm sorry to disagree, but the clarinet in F made and sold by Le Blanc =

in the same register at the basset horn. It just did not go down as =
far.

Thus, it is not one step away from an E-flat clarinet - and I am =

here tot he E-flat soprano clarinet.
