Fred, I think the definition needs to be made much tighter.

Al Galladoro, who just passed away, played much longer than Stanley (so
far), and thus had a longer career that Stanley.

I think I know what they mean and Stanley deserves the honor but he is not
the clarinetist with the longest career.
