Out of curiosity, when did metal clarinets arrive on the scene, and could
they have been used in the harsh Civil War outdoor environments?

Thank you everyone for the help. I am an author, and I have a story idea for
some alternate-history civil war stories dealing with music and magic, and
since I am a clarinet player (although it's been about twenty years), I
thought it might be nice to incorporate my instrument into the stories. Your
information has been great, so thank you so much!!!! This will give me a
place to start.
