I think this is extremely unreasonable indeed. Where would the show be
without the musicians? I also play multi-clarinets and know well the hassle
this would cause. I think that if you could gather other musicians in the
orchestra who feel the same and get them to sign a petition of your request
to warm up in the pit this may help. If the organizers want good, happy
music in their show then they MUST treat their musicians with more respect!
Can you imagine the singers accepting this? I think not - hair would be
flying! If this does not work I myself would be all up for refusing to
play! Especially as you are all so kindly doing the show voluntarily! Good
