This is probably only of interest if either
1) you live in the UK or are visiting next week
2) you like jazz - or even more specifically free jazz
3) you are obsessed with all things clarinet
and if it's all three - be there !
(Declared interest - I've organised these events and I'm playing in the sec=
ond gig)
The veteran free jazz clarinet maestro Theo J=F6rgensmann (clarinet in Low =
G) will be playing in London next week and joining up with drummer Seb Roch=
ford (of Polar Bear and Acoustic Ladyland) and bassist Dominic Lash. If you=
don't know who Theo is you can find out a little about his approach to pla=
ying at:
http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=3D32923
It's Theo's first visit to the UK and it would be lovely to see some of you=
there (and please do introduce yourself if you do come).
Also performing:
Shabaka Hutchings (bass clarinet), who recently played with the Charlie Had=
en Liberation Orchestra and the John Dejohnette Ensemble on their respectiv=
e UK tours will be on the same bill. He is playing the rarely performed wor=
k - Cornelius Cardew's 'Mountains' (originally composed for Harry Sparnaay)=
on bass clarinet.
