I never liked the Legere's so I haven't used them. I have bought a few
Forestones of different strengths. I like to sound - as do others. They
are certainly better for me than Legere's. My two complaints about the
Forestones, however, are that they are more difficult to control in the
upper altissimo - something partially remedied by clipping them a little.
And, the feel - they feel, as Jim said about the Legere's - slippery on the
lip. Not much different than Legere's. I guess I prefer the "friction" of
cane. Still, the Forestones are in my rotation - especially for pit work.

I've used Legere's for doubling, but don't like them on clarinet. They don't

feel or sound natural to me. The Forestone really emulates a cane reed.
Maybe it's visual, for they have the color of cane, not the transparent look

of the Legere. Legere's feel slippery on the lip, too. Very unnatural to me.
