Dear Klarinet List,

The Claremont Clarinet Festival returns for its fourth year as a
week-long workshop presenting three public concerts on the campus of
Pomona College, Claremont, California.

If you'd like to attend any of the concerts, they are:

Thursday, June 11--CLARINET ENSEMBLES, conducted by Margaret Thornhill,
Victoria Ramos, and Wendy Mazon. A participant choir of 12 clarinets
with guest E-flat (Alex Sramek), Alto (Joel Kabakoff), and Contrabass
(Don Gross) performs the premiere of Chuck Fernandez's "Circus Stroll";
Nestico's "A Study in Contrasts"; Gordon Jacob's "The Wind in the
Reeds"; Andy Scott's "Paquito," with Lynne Snyder as soloist; and
Mancini's "The Pink Panther. Quartets by Ian Holloway (the hilarious
"Colonel Bogey Variations") plus Turkish, Klezmer and Latin American
music. 8PM, Lyman Recital Hall, Thatcher Music Center, 340 N. College
Avenue, Claremont, 91711. $10 general/$5 students and seniors.Three
concert ticket: $15.

June 11--CLARINET MASTERWORKS. Participants David Beech, Christin
Hablewitz, Nicolina Logan, Wendy Mazon, Victoria Ramos, Ann Satterfield
David Seta, Lynne Snyder, and Stephen White perform solo works for
clarinet and piano by Schumann, Mendelssohn, Cahuzac, Debussy, Francaix,
Weber, Widor, Seiber and Guastavino. Twyla Meyer and Althea Waites,
Pianists. 8PM, Lyman Recital Hall, Thatcher Music Center. $10/5.

June 12--20th Century Masters. Margaret Thornhill, clarinet (artistic
director), Roger Lebow, cello, and Twyla Meyer, piano start the concert
with the west coast premiere of Daniel Schnyder's "A Friday Night in
August--Trio for clarinet, cello and piano." Participants perform solo
works by: David Loeb (Solo Sonata for Bass Clarinet #1). Willson
Osborne (Rhapsody), Kovacs (Hommage a Manuel De Falla), Kibbe (Sonata
for bass clarinet and piano), Paquito D'Rivera (Vals Venezolano Y
contradanza), Hindemith, Poulenc, and Horovitz. with pianist Twyla
Meyer. 8PM, Bridges Hall of Music. $10/5.
