Palisades Virtuosi Presents Back to the Movies – Part II Concert on May
30, Featuring World Premiere by Film Composer Joseph Turrin

Ridgewood, NJ - The critically-acclaimed Palisades Virtuosi presents
Back to the Movies – Part II - the fourth concert of their 2008-2009
season on Saturday, May 30, 2009 - 8 PM at the Unitarian Society of
Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The evening will
begin with a pre-concert talk with the performers and commissioned
composer at 7:00, and will continue with a silent auction beginning at
7:30 and a post-concert meet-the-artists reception.

This program will feature the World Premiere of Statements, a new work
commissioned by the Palisades Virtuosi from renowned film composer
Joseph Turrin, creator of scores for feature films such as A New Life,
Weeds, Tough Guys Don't Dance and Little Darlings, as well as for a
number of recently re-scored silent films. He is also a composer of
concert works for orchestra, band and chamber ensemble. Visit him at

Also on the program are 5 Pezzi Facili for flute & piano by Nino Rota
("The Godfather" and all of Fellini's film scores), Desert Thoughts for
flute, clarinet & piano by Alex Shapiro ("Horses & Champions", "The Last
Job"), Seven Postcards to Old Friends for flute, clarinet [orig. viola]
& piano by Robert Russell Bennett ("The Story of Vernon and Irene
Castle", "Show Boat", "Shall We Dance"), Sonata for solo piano (2nd
movement) by Miklos Rozsa ("Ben-Hur", The Green Berets", Dead Men don't
wear Plaid"), Clarinet Sonata by Leonard Bernstein ("West Side Story",
"On the Waterfront", Trouble in Tahiti") and other short works by Paul
Chihara ("Shogun", "China Beach", "Crossing Delancy") and John Williams
("Star Wars", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Hook").

The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski,
clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3)
organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute,
clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and
newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their
concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by
solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists. Volumes One and
