Dear List,

Tomorrow, May 21, and next Wednesday, May 27th, I will be premiering
a series of new quartets I've written for Violin, Clarinet, 'Cello,
and Piano. Tomorrow's performance is at Seattle's City Hall at noon
(enter from 5th Av. between Cherry and James). Next week's is at the
Chapel at Good Shepherd, 4649 Sunnyside Av. N., also in Seattle.

The quartets, called "Lyric Pieces," are another in a series of my
compositions seeking to bridge the gap between "classical" and
"popular" styles of music. Inspired by Rock, Pop, Folk, and "New
Age" music, there are seven new pieces to be presented. Interspersed
with the original music on these concerts, are arrangements of
pre-existing "songs," "charts," or "pieces" by rock, pop, folk, etc.
composers. To add an extra bit of fun, the arrangements will be
listed in the program as blanks to be filled in by the
audience. Whoever guesses the most correctly is entered to win a
free CD. The concert will also have an informal format to mirror
jazz and rock shows, and the pieces will be performed in sets.

Following the performances, I will make the audio recordings and
sheet music available for free on my website. I hope some of you
will be interested in performing them in the future.

As an aside, my Quintet for clarinet and strings "The Beatles" will
be performed July 12 in WA. Check my website for details.

Cheers,

Sean Osborn
