BUFFET CRAMPON DAYS!

Virtuoso oboist Brenda Schuman-Post won a 2008 grant to create a new piece
of music that would bond the people in whose forests African Blackwood
(grenadilla) grows, with the people who play instruments made from those trees.
Performing at sawmills and conservation projects in Tanzania, Mozambique
and then in the UK, she became the first musician in history to witness
every detail from finding and harvesting an African Blackwood tree, to the
making of a top of the line instrument. Brenda will have a slide show running
non stop during these events and will be on hand to provide information and
discussion.

Come try most models of Buffet Crampon clarinets and oboes, including the
famous R-13s and greenlines. Learn about the tree from which they are
made. See a display of sculptures carved from grenadilla, touch pieces of the
tree and billets and bells before they become instruments. Watch a video on
how wind instruments are made. Participate in a master class geared towards
both clarinetists and oboists.
