The American Chamber Ensemble Presents Woodwind Treasures Concert on
April 4 at Hofstra University

The American Chamber Ensemble’s Woodwind Treasures concert will be given
on Saturday, April 4 - 8 p.m. at Hofstra University's Monroe Lecture
Center Theater on California Avenue, South Campus in Hempstead, New
York. The concert will be presented by the University Music Department.

Works to be performed are Ten Minutes for Four Players by Elie
Siegmeister (celebrating the 100th Anniversary of his birth), Woodwind
Quintet by Elliott Carter (also celebrating his 100th birthday),
Poulenc’s Sextet, Mozart’s “Non piu di fiori” from La Clemenza di Tito,
K. 621 for soprano, clarinet and piano and the Quintet in D Major, opus
42 of Zdenek Fibich.

Performers for this concert will be the Directors of the American
Chamber Ensemble, pianist Blanche Abram and clarinetist Naomi Drucker,
who will be joined by Eriko Sato, violin, Chris Finckel, cello, Denise
Lozano Healey, flute, Lynne Cohen, oboe, Leonard Hindell, bassoon, Eva
Conti, French horn, Tammy Hensrud, soprano and Marilyn Sherman Lehman,
piano.

Tickets for the April 4 concert are available at the Hofstra University
Box Office for $15 ($12 senior citizens 65+ and non-Hofstra students).

The American Chamber Ensemble explores the great chamber music
literature for clarinet and piano in combination with strings, woodwinds
and voice and presents performances featuring world-class artists. ACE
consists of the finest freelance musicians in the New York area and has
been cited by critics for their superb presentations of chamber
masterworks. Their latest CDs on Elysium are American Clarinet
Treasures, featuring core members of ACE performing works by George
Kleinsinger, Virgil Thomson, Daniel Gregory Mason, Elliott Carter,
Douglas Moore and Gary Schocker, with Guest Artist Stanley Drucker and
The American Chamber Ensemble Plays Peter Schickele, which features five
of this modern master’s most important chamber works.

ACE concerts are supported by the Hofstra Music Department, and assisted
with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state
