Hello Tom, hope you are well. We are fine. Things here are going
well. How is the economy where you are? Over here we are isolated from
problems as the US govt takes care of problems. We have done a lot of
travel. Prague-Venice-Stockholm- Malaga-Seville and in April we go to
Rome. I get to see the resession first hand in many countries. We
moved to a modern apt in Dec as the older house had too many problems.
What music stuff are you doing? The clarinet playing level in London
is amazing. Many good players and high standards . I am having a good
time. But being in a wheelchair makes everything hard. Most top
players use Buffet (all kinds) Selmer , Holwarth , Eaton and some
use older Boosey & Hawles 1010 models. They sound great. The British
sound is really merged into a European sound . I bought a Cocobola
Howarth 14.75 bore Bb . It is the nicest horn I ever played . Jon
Seward designed the Howarth clarinets in the 1990`s. He is a master at
everything. Know him for years. They make 2 types 14.75 and a R13 type
with a smaller bore. I got mine in Sept 2008 tried many. They have
the greatest clarinet oboe store in the world. It impressed me. I new
old George Howarth in 19661-65. My teacher George Garside ( London Sym
for 30 years) got me with him. So I am enjoying the UK and the
travel. They have cheap air flights thru out Europe so it is really
makes you want to travel. What are you doing? Still on the Leblanc`s
and stuff? Not much interest over here. A British friend gave me an
old A. Lelandais mp from the 1920`s-1930`s. Playes very well. It was
a mp that Jon Seward fixed up. Jon does Tony Pay`s stuff and almost
all the top British players over here. Cocobolo makes a very mellow
sound. Well let me know how you are and what you are doing and Best
old chap, Cecil
