The Buffet E-11 is not a bad clarinet, once it is set up
properly. We generally have to go over them pretty thoroughly in our
shop, as they typically come in from the factory very leaky, often
with very rough tone holes that need dressing. So, if you do decide
on one, make sure you buy it from a dealer who can set it up
right. You can also consider buying a Schreiber clarinet, which is
made in the same factory, but to higher specs, it appears to us. The
Yamaha YCL-650 (or YCL-450) might also be right in your ballpark, and
have excellent quality control.

A lightly-used pro model Buffet,.Selmer, Leblanc or Yamaha would also
be very good choices.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
