Check the reed(s) again by moistening them and laying them flat against a
piece of clear glass (I have a reed-fixing glass -- 1.25" x 3" or thereabouts).
Look at the under side of the reed and press down on the top. If the reed
springs away from the glass it is probably warped -- it should lay flat on
the full surface and adhere to the glass. Arguably, there is little one can do
to a warped reed. Another item about reeds that can make them squeak is the
"dark lines" that appear in the cane when you hold a reed up to the light.
You might be dealing with something like that. The clearer the worked area
is on a reed, the more apt it is to not have quirks that have to be fixed.
Good luck!
