I had some 2.5 and 3.5 ML reeds left over.

I just tried a 2.5 and no sqeaking at all. However it was much harder to
get sound out, but with harder blowing, I played pg 49 in the Rubank Advance
1 very well as it has lots of range changes.

So, I think it is the reed. Now I do not know if I have a bad batch, as I
have gone through almost 2 boxes since Jan as I have 5 boxes left! But the
soaking completely helped.

Trying my only other mouthpiece was not good, as it is the originally one
that came with the R-13, as I remember it was pretty horrible back in 1970
and it still is.

Why does Buffet put out a great clarinet only to have a horrible mouthpiece
with it?

Mike
