Michael,

I WILL admit that I do balance my reeds. That is important with any reed.

The chances that a music store will know anything about mthpcs is near nil. Take it to one of us on the list that is a mthpc maker. However, with a 2-5 power glass, or just take to a drugstore and look at it through 3.25 glasses, you can easily see distortions or chips in the rails. You won't see warpage, but you can spot chips.

Several of us make mthpcs, and I think you will find that a fine hand-made mthpc is much better than a commercial one.
