Palisades Virtuosi Presents Women in Music Concert on March 29,
Featuring World Premiere by Pulitzer Prize Winner Melinda Wagner

Ridgewood, NJ - The critically-acclaimed Palisades Virtuosi presents
Women in Music, the third concert of their 2008-2009 season on Sunday,
March 29, 2009 - 3 PM at the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre of Bergen
Community College, 400 Paramus Road in Paramus, New Jersey. Special
guest artist will be soprano Lorraine Ernest.

This program will feature the World Premiere of a new work commissioned
by the Palisades Virtuosi from Melinda Wagner, winner of the 1999
Pulitzer Prize in Music. Other works to be performed include Baroque
Suite for flute, clarinet and piano by Elizabeth Raum, Jennifer Higdon’s
DASH for flute, clarinet and piano, Concertino for flute and piano by
Cecile Chaminade, Trio by Madeleine Dring for flute, clarinet
[originally oboe] and piano, Elisabetta DeGambarini’s (1731-1765) Minuet
and 3 Variations from "Lessons for the Harpsichord" [1748], three songs
by Amy Beach, featuring soprano Lorraine Ernest and Victoria Bond’s II -
The Venus Flytrap and VII - Ragweed from "Peculiar Plants" for solo piano.

County Dept. of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.

Melinda Wagner’s works have been performed by the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra, Denver Symphony Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra,
National Orchestra of Colombia, New York New Music Ensemble, Syracuse
Society for New Music, the Contemporary Chamber Players, and Orchestra
2001. She has been honored with a Guggenheim fellowship, grants from the
Illinois Arts Council and Meet the Composer, Inc., three ASCAP Young
Composer awards, and resident fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and
Yaddo. Her Concerto for Flute, Strings and Percussion won the 1999
Pulitzer Prize for Music. More about her at

The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski,
clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3)
organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute,
clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and
newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their
concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by
solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists. Volumes One and
