Also in the NYC area, another excellent community band is the Lesbian &
Gay Big Apple Corps. The band, now in it's 30th season, is open to all
wind, brass, and percussion players, no audition necessary. Both
concert and marching, the symphonic band last month made it's ensemble
debut at Carnegie Hall and is currently rehearsing for a concert in
April. The marching band just participated in Obama's inauguration
parade and is now gearing up for their summer/fall season. Weekly
rehearsals are in Manhattan. I'd be happy to supply additional
information to anyone who's interested.
