I do know what Tom means (see his later post) and feel the same. Rather than
trying more words, next summer at Kammermusik we must do some side by side
comparisons of the low registers of our clarinets. I do find the reform
Boehm amazing in that respect.

I have no idea where you think I said that a bass clarinet has
distortion or spreading of sound down low. That was in reference to
playing high dynamics on a Bb clarinet down low.
