Yes, Forest, I see now how you interpreted this the way you did, so
hopefully this is clearer now because the way you interpreted is not
what I had intended. Thus my clarification.
So let me restate what I said earlier today and then ask you a question.
"Language is an imprecise form of communication. Written communication
such as e-mail is even more imprecise and this is really where things
get confused. Since I do not know you personally, I have no basis for
how to interpret what you are saying other than to try and filter it
through my own understanding. Since each person perceives things in a
unique way, this is where the impreciseness occurs. I must interpret
what you are saying based upon how I see it vs. how you see it."
I am hearing a bass clarinet sound in my head right now and I want to
describe to you what I am hearing.
So my question is this, what sound am I hearing? If I describe using
words that I understand, imprecise as they are, will you "hear" the same
thing.
Answer, no, because the way I see reediness or whatever, does not mean
you will hear or understand the description in the same way.
That is why trying to describe how something sounds, especially through
e-mail is so difficult and prone to a multitude of interpretations. Good
and bad.
