Forest,

I don't believe I ever made that claim. See my last post to Tom P.

I simply explained how and why Wurlitzer does what they do and you are
free to make any opinion you like.

I can name Michelle Zukovsky, Lorin Levee, Stephen Bates, Larry Combs,
Greg Smith for starters who all play in major US orchestras and play on
them. There is also Giora Feidman. However, as I said in my previous
post, French clarinets are the accepted standard here and that is what I
would be playing on if playing professionally in the US.

The bluing process on a spring is actually a heat treatment, not a
coating that is applied to the spring. While it does provide some
corrosion resistance, the main effect of bluing has to do with the
heating or tempering of the metal. It allows more flexibility in the
metal while still maintaining the temper in the steel. This allows the
metal to bend without breaking. If the bluing process is not done
correctly, the metal becomes brittle.
