You have to play the mouthpiece to find one you like so get a good reed
(borrow a horn an MP if you have to) and start trying or ordering on trial
every medium opening mouthpiece you can find until you find one you like.
Even if you tried 10 Meyer 5 mouthpieces you would find one plays better
than the other 9. An expert mouthpiece maker could finish a mouthpiece that
was pretty good in a few minutes I would think and even sometimes a great
mouthpiece comes out of the box. I would suggest you start with a 2.5 Rico
Reserve reed to try the mouthpieces as 4 out of 5 in the box will play.

Throw out your budget limit. You will make the money back on the job. Don't
pass up a great mouthpiece because it is $50 more than you want to pay.

Don't give up, just keep trying until one plays great for you.

Perhaps you have a friend that has a few shoe boxes full of mouthpieces that
you can try. Probably would be a good one in there.

My thoughts.
