Mushi-mushi. Hi! This work was recorded by Kazuko Ninomiya for Fontec, FOCD
20008 (1997), wife of Hamanaka-san, retired first clarinet of the NHK
Symphony Orchestra. It would be good to have Japanese representation on this
list... You surely noticed that Ensemble Acht has recorded his Sextet (no
cl) and Octet for cpo (777 049 (2007)) so it is probably only a matter of
time before they release the Quintet. I think the slow movement is more
taxing in ensemble than the other movements. We played it through last week.
The timings are 10' 33 + 5' 16 +15' 13 +8' 09. Weingartner wrote an
autobiography published in 1937, entitled Buffets and Rewards.
