I certainly don't follow learning principles that cause me to believe ideas
should be cast in stone. In fact, organizations I belong to like NAPBIRT
strive to teach their "old dogs" new tricks - it happens all the time.

I had thought that Teflon Tape was looked upon as a temporary fix, not a
permanent fix. So one comes to learn that is not the case. Its great to
learn this information.

Lets remember that problems can come about when "the only tool you have is a
hammer, and everything starts looking like a nail." I certainly am no
engineer, and I have never formally studied issues like stress..

I wonder if manufacturers like Buffet, Selmer, and Yamaha (to name a few)
will warranty a cracked joint which has been switched over from Cork to
Teflon Tape. Perhaps they will do so. Unequivocally at that. Perhaps not.
Most of the manufacturers don't like it when "standard features" of their
instruments are changed. I don't know.

Interesting subject. Worth discussing. Again, no insinuations made - just
discussion.
