Steven Hanna asked:
"If anyone out there has their finger on Muczynski's music...
The Muczynski Duos for Flute and Clarinet are marked Op.24 with a
copyright of 1991. But I believe they were originally flute duets,
which various websites are listing as Op. 34.
Does anyone have a definitive explanation of where this piece fits
within his works?"
My copy of "Lurie and Baker play Muczynski" (Laurel Record LR-131
Stereo) has the following note [obviously written by the composer]
under "Six Duos for Flute and Clarinet, Opus 34 1973 ... World
premiere recording":
These six miniatures were originally composed for two flutes. When I
learned that Julius Baker and Mitchell Lurie would be recording my
music for Laurel Record, I rearranged these duos for maximum advantage
for these two instruments. The pieces speak for themselves. I can add
nothing that is not already contained in the music."
