In my experience, a clarinet that has a (sudden) tight connection or is
stuck together ... isn't the result of cork. It is a wood-on-wood problem.

Rocking problems can, at times, definitely be solved by replacement of cork.
I have an 1193-2 and an R13 Greenline at my side, right now, that have had
that problem - which was solved by replacement of cork. Cork certainly
isn't a perfect material.

BUT, for me, I will stick with it. DSFDF.

Hi,

I would like to know why you think cork will stop rocking and tape won't?
If you
have rocking, it is not a cork OR tape problem, but one caused by wearing
and/or
shrinkage of the wood of the tenon. Yes, I use tape on all of the joints at
the
same time. The reason I do this is so that I can easily take the instrument
apart
for swabbing during a performance, if necessary, and to not have to replace
corks
or worry about them coming off. I carry a roll of tape with me. If for
some
reason I need more, I can add it within seconds. And when I have been
playing in
hot, humid and/or damp conditions, I don't have to worry about my instrument
getting stuck together, and becoming hard to get apart.

When I first started using the tape I had to replace it every few weeks or
so. But
once you get the hang of how to wrap it, it can last indefinitely. And you
don't
scrape off your corks, either. If they are there, then clean them of grease
with
alcohol and wrap over the corks. If they are missing, wrap without them.
It
doesn't matter one way or the other. And if you would like lessons, they
can be
arranged! ;?)))
