Yes.

The mystery to be explained is why, given that the passage 'lies' more ea=
sily
and naturally on the A rather than the Bb Ottensteiner, M=FChlfeld nevert=
heless
switched.

I thought about it a lot in the 2000 thread, and eventually came to the
conclusion, as a player of both Ottensteiner and Boehm instruments, that =
that
was the most plausible explanation.

Of course, modern players may well make a different choice. In fact, I'm=

concerned to ALLOW them that choice, rather than make spurious arguments =
as
to what they SHOULD do. (I'm against 'shoulds', as other contributors he=
re
will tell you.)

So you see that my whole beef with you is to do with what I see as a misu=
se
of science in this argument.

Still, you're obviously scientifically literate; you might like to explai=
n to
your little friend on the list why 'power' (dimensions M(L^2)T^(-3)),
although not subtle enough to capture the situation entirely, isn't an
entirely inappropriate quantity to be looking to be able to increase in
'sempre crescendo'.

Apropos the 'other' dispute, revisit the thread on the BBoard. As I said=

there, "I've never encountered such a wriggler."
