Good for you!
My college professor forced us to major on clarinet rather than saxophone. I went to the dept chair and he hired a sax teacher. I continued studying clarinet and flute and oboe. On saxophone I was allowed to do a lot of my work on baritone and soprano.
Now if only someone would major on alto clarinet...
