I'll have to say that Mr. Roberts' statement ..."Most of the creative
people I know
are so thrilled to have their work exposed to the public, they would
be
excited even if it were performed as "Concerto for Kazoo and Vacuum
Cleaner" seems just a tad presumptuous and condescending to composers.
As a composer
who makes a small portion of his income from his music, I care about
how
my music is performed and would LIKE TO HAVE A SAY in something like
that. It
would be polite to ask the composer, if possible, about such matters.
It's an individual thing
...some composers might welcome major changes, others may not. We
would all like to be compensated adequately for our efforts. Seeing
unauthorized copies of one's compositions is most disconcerting.
