I'd recommend Lawrie Bloom of the Chicago Symphony who teaches at
Northwestern University. I don't know if you could (or should in terms of an
orchestral career) "major" in bass clarinet there, but I know you could be
accepted as a clarinet major and get excellent instruction on the bass
clarinet too.
For more composer/performer stuff have a look at Michael Lowenstern. I think
he teaches in NYC.
