I said nothing about the "simplicity" of the=20
fingerings. I said they were smoother, more in=20
tune, more resonant etc. as a whole (not one=20
particular note but the entire passage).

The physics of this is rather obvious and too boring to get into.

But if you propose that my statement is untrue,=20
then why do you suppose M=FChlfeld played it that=20
way? Did he want it to be less in tune, less=20
resonant, and less smooth?
