Greetings All!

Some info, to do with as you please:

Simple Gifts *is* the title of the tune;

The correct first phrase is, " 'Tis *the* gift to be simple,...", the
difference between *a* gift and *the* gift being important to Shakers;

Simple Gifts is a dance tune. Only one stanza, (most hymns have two or
three), and the last two lines are dance instructions. Sometimes this
tune is mis-identified as a Shaker hymn or worksong-hymn.
