Reminds me of when some brass playing friends were hired to play the Award
Fanfares at the Squaw Valley Olympics a good number of years ago. They were
housed in an apartment on the grounds near the presentation area and played
from their balcony. They played the first fanfare just fine and decided to
have a drink and wait outside for the second awards. Needless to say after
a few drinks and a substantial wait, here came the next fanfare. The
trumpet players lips froze to the mouthpiece. They all waited insided from
then on and kept mouthpieces in their hands in their pockets until time to
play. I think after that event they started to use recordings.

The pianist had on mittens cut off for the fingers- it must have been
pretty cold.

Just my take, but it sort of seemed to me that Mr. Perlman and Mr. Ma
were communicating with each other much more than with Mr.
McGill. Any comments?
