Hi, Kevin,

Another vote for Yamaha here. Am also a doubler (former teacher, now a
clarinet-and-flute owner) and have been very happy with the two Yamaha
flutes I have owned. Our local repair tech corroborates this vote of
confidence. He may have a stack of other flutes waiting in his shop for
repair, but he gets relatively few Yamahas needing adjustment and so on.

A knowledgeable flute teacher recommended to me that, at a minimum, I get
a model with a silver tube. I took that advice and have not been sorry.
Started with a Yamaha 481, but I sold it a few years later when I found a
gently used 881 for a reasonable price. Have not regretted that move,
either. Don't know what they cost on your side of the pond, but my hunch
is that, in the long haul, it's worth the extra few shekels for a Yamaha.

Best of luck.
Anna
