Hey Peter.....you got some of dem singles put out by Blind Lemon Jefferson?
In 1926....well...and '27, 28 and 29....good stuff.
A Texas boy he was. I wonder if any of those Sacred Harp Choral folks (Texas
Chapter) ever hit the bars where Blind Lemon was playing.

My youngest daughter, a student at The University of Colorado, was the
committee chair of the distinguished speakers committee at the University.
Their task, each year, is to select and then contract people of note...to
speak at a big hoopla each year. Her first year on the committee she called
me and asked, "Hey Dad, could you call BB King and ask him if he would be
interested in talking at our "big hoopla". She asked because I had just
finished a playing a job with BB. I had been talking about what a great guy
and fascinating life King has lived and it captured my daughters attention.
King often speaks of Blind Lemon Jefferson and Lemon's influence on his life
and playing.

Well.....BB King not only talked at CU...but in a huge surprise to the
University, brought his band. They played, he talked....it was great.

Have you ever heard the old saying, "blues is for fools"? It kind of like
"rap is crap". Some folks just don't like the "blues"....just not
"uplifting" enough for them. LOL

I don't think this thread is about rap. Get the drift...in the riff?
