This is a *great* idea. When I lived in Jersey City, my ex and I were
scared that the landlord (in the flat below us) would not like practicing.

. . . turns out that he and his partner were both ersatz opera stars (i.e.,
in the shower). They offered the use of their piano whenever we wanted to
us it.

FWIW, it often helps to bring beer when making the introduction. It's hard
to hate a neighbor who's offered you a beer first.
