There are surely two distinct questions here: is Rap an art form and
is it Music. Sculpture is an art form but I have never considered it
to be music (yes I know it was described as "frozen music" but so
what). I would certainly agree rap can be fairly regarded as an art-
form, but whether that art-form is a musical one is more arguable. Is
poetry a musical art-form or just an art-form? Perhaps when it is
spoken aloud. Then is the score of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik in itself
music or is it only music when played? Suppose I read the score and
imagine the performance of it -"auralize" it as this is often
described. AAAARGH .... the men in white coats are at the door!
