Do I think that is it's SOLE purpose? No, of course not. But I would
certainly argue that it is in the list of appealing attributes.

Music is about expression, creativity, and individuality. Statistically
speaking, rap's appeal skews towards the younger age groups. That
generational class distinction is part of the appeal: "it belongs to US,
not to those old fogies." There's probably a good graduate level
seminar here on the psychology of preferences in music.

And, after all, I did include a warning about overgeneralization....
