This is an absolutely critical point. (Caution: gross
overgeneralization follows.) Throughout history, EVERY generation has
found ways to irritate their parents' generation, through fashion,
through accessories, through attitudes, through music. It's a fact, and
it's perfectly OK.

Antoine, do not be fooled into thinking you will escape this. I don't
know what the trends will be in 30 years, but rest assured that you will
be irritated by the fashion and music preferences of the teenagers of
2040. Maybe the latest fashion style will be the piercing of internal
organs ("hey, I have a liver ring!"), maybe it will be braided armpit
hair, I don't know. Whatever it is, despite your intentions to stay
open-minded and liberal, you will hate it.

I loved Emerson, Lake & Palmer. My parents hated it. In my case, the
only rap I've heard that I didn't hate was by Salt-N-Pepa, and they
included much more melody than the typical pop rap. Don't ask me to
like it -- it's never going to happen, and there's no point in debating
it. And that's perfectly fine. This is why XM Radio has 170 channels.
