It could be that some people listen to certain kinds of music because they =
want to be associated with a certain social group. I mean=2C just look at t=
he 'emo's and their 'screamo' music. Maybe it's the same with rap?
=20
Actually=2C I have found one rap song that I like **gasp!!** It's called Ha=
ndlebars=2C by the Flobots. I like it=2C first of all because it has a trum=
pet solo in it=2C which I think is way kewl! And secondly because the lyric=
s are about how "I can do ANYTHING" and they are very forceful due to the m=
usical context in which they are delivered.

social codes and morals. As Dan Leeson very rightly pointed out even music =
by Mozart deals with risque stubjects even by modern standards.=20

> Just a thought: The subject matter of music on its own does not define th=
e good-ness or bad-ness of the music=2C but the musical treatment of a subj=
ect can. To say that rap music is bad or unmusical because it deals with se=
x=2C drugs and other topics of a risque or off-color leaning doesn't make s=
ense in the same way the 'Figaro' or 'Don Giovanni' are bad for the same re=
asons. Music=2C including rap=2C if done right can be a wonderful medium fo=
r taking on difficult subjects like sex=2C drugs=2C etc. John Adam's "Dr. A=
tomic" is an excellent example of that. Whether or not one likes John Adams=
=2C or rap=2C or thinks John Adams=2C or rap=2C are music is a whole differ=
ent kettle of fish.

f-color humor and a risque scene=2C or two.

>>I agree that the content of most rap is not entirely wholesome. I don't l=
isten to it. I also agree that there is good and bad in everything.... perh=
aps even rap. But I won't be the one to find out what the good rap is!
