Rap... rhythmic chanting of text with minimal melodic content. Hmm sounds =
like a 2500 year old Greek Chorus used in Greek drama. In Opera of the =
past 400 years, recitative has served a similar purpose, of expressing =
lots of text quickly to get us caught up with the story line, allowing us =
to enjoy the aria. Rap just has no aria that follows. =20

Now, would Mozart be curious to try to set set text across bar lines with =
interesting rhythmic effects which deny the normal language accents? Gads =
we could split a music history department on that one :). Instead Mozart =
liked to have 3-4 aria conversations going on at once allowing us, the =
listener, to listen in on the private thoughts of the different characters =
as we like. The rhythmic complexity of those are quite intriguing. So =
has Mozart composed rap???
