I don't usually get involved in these discussions, but I couldn't resist
this time (could be the single malt, and yes, my mirror looks better)

I have never met anyone who knows anything (first hand) about the timbre of
any sized clarinet from Mozart's time.
And, yes, I do own a particularly good Le Blanc alto clarinet. I have a
picture on my Facebook page showing me playing jazz on it at Clare Fischer's 80th
Birthday party. Steve Marsh also played jazz alto clarinet that night,
making it, possibly, the only night two people played jazz alto clarinet in the
same building.

I believe in musicality. Exactly what instrument it's being played is
not that big of a deal. I've heard Tommy Potter play Bach on harmonica that
would enthrall any musician.

Can't we all just make music!
