Bear, I admire the way you have suggested that the work might be played. But
have you considered the effect on the work's timbre by some of the drastic
solutions you proposed. I once played a performance with two Euponia
playing the horn in B-flat part. The notes were all there, but it certainly
had a very different and unpleasant timbre.

Besides, I have played 361 in Tucson so there must be some basset horns.
Have you spoken to Jerry Kirbride who is the instructor on clarinet at the
UofA??
