Subj: [kl] Gum surgery report

Hello all,

I'm finally done with my gum surgery, mostly healed up, and back in the swing of
playing. I had gingival flap surgery on multiple teeth in all four quadrants.
It took me just under two weeks to feel ready to play again, and I could
probably have even started a day or two sooner. I imagine it would have taken
longer if I had had a different kind of surgery, such as grafting.

Nancy Buckman was kind to make it clear that she wasn't referring to me
specifically when she said that "periodontal problems usually stem from
inadequate daily care of the teeth and gums." In my case it was just bad luck,
maybe genetic, since I have flossed daily since age 17 as well as always
brushing regularly and getting all my scheduled cleanings. Just an unfortunate
roll of the dice. At least we have great modern dental technology available to us!

If anyone is facing something similar and would like more details, feel free to
contact me off-list.

Claudia
