Michael
{ bought a Bass clarinet to low E flat for doubling in shows. At
that time I couldn't find a low C model at a price I could afford. I
have never felt any need to change and I have never come across a low
C in anything I've played on Bass where I"ve felt the lack of the low
C. I do however play bassoon and so I've never needed to use the
bass as a substitute for bassoon.
Oh it's just occurred to me - you do mean a Bb bass clarinet to low E
flat don't you and not an Eb contrabass clarinet. That's a lovely
instrument, but you won't get much playing on it. I know; I have one!
